Position:Linux/Unix Systems Administrator
Requirements:
- 5+ years experience with Linux/Unix administration.
- Strong troubleshooting, decision making and problem solving skills.
- Hands-on experience monitoring, building and troubleshooting Unix/Linux Operating Systems.
- Familiarity with Networking/Security technologies (Ethernet, routers, switches, firewalls, VPN).
- Experience with internet technologies (Apache, DNS, TCP/IP).
- Experience with monitoring tools..
- SAN experience a plus.
- Oracle installation experience helpful.
- Highly self motivated and directed.
- Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a multi-project environment.
- Skilled at working within a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
Responsibilities:
- Install and Manage all operating systems and end-user software.
- Manage communications and connection services, including workstation connectivity, local area networks, intranet, and Internet applications.
- Ensure the integrity and security of enterprise data on host computers, multiple databases, and during data transfer in accordance to business needs and industry best-practices regarding privacy, security, and regulatory compliance
- Manage peripheral devices, including printers and scanners.
- Anticipate, mitigate, identify, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware and software problems on servers, peripherals, and workstations. Escalate incidents as necessary. Work with vendor support and coordinate vendor service calls. Make physical repairs to systems where appropriate.
- Analyze system, server, application, network, and peripheral device performance and recommend, schedule, and perform software and hardware improvements, upgrades, patches, reconfigurations.
- Conduct research on emerging products, services, protocols, and standards in support of systems software procurement and development efforts.
- Share in off hours and on call support.
